Gateway of India

Mumbai, India

The Gateway of India was built in 1924 to commemorate King George V's visit to Mumbai. Through its basalt arch, the red dome of the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel rises above the waterfront. Opened in 1903 by Jamsetji Tata to bring world-class hospitality to India, it remains one of the country's most iconic landmarks.
